Yes indeed, that it will be.

On the night of June 3rd i found out i am going to be a grandmother! Crikey how exciting is that! I had flown to Christchurch for the weekend of Queens Birthday to catch up with family and what perfect timing! My daughter Jessica and her husband Hamish picked me up from the airport and back to their place where i was staying. A cup of coffee was made and a piece of Nanna's [my mums] fruit cake served up for me on a plate.
I duly quaffed the coffee and finished the cake. As i was putting the plate down beside me, i noticed writing on the bottom of it.... [our writing has evolved into LOLSpeak we love the icanhazcheeseburger website]......



Well crikey that was a surprise! Jess had had a hip operation last year [don't let your kids do karate when they are young!] and i had thought they might start a family soon but expected it more to be next year.... what a lovely surprise and perfectly timed for my visit...how fortuitous! I even got to go to her doctors appointment with her the next day.
As the pregnancy was still in the early stages i've had to keep quiet until today! So now i can spread the word!
The next scan has been planned for when Mike [my partner] and I are in Christchurch at the end of this month ... it is so cool how everything is slotting in to place! :o) Baby is due February 2011.

They had their first scan this week... 'Boobirri' [my nick name for the youngan due to the fact that at one stage it was the size of a blueberry...and the name stuck - for me anyway] is currently 2cm and all looks well with a heart rate of 176bpm.
I wonder if Boobirri will be as tiny as his/her mum was http://sarndra.com/kidspage.html

    aww thanks Amy! LOL yes my daughter has my sense of humour :-) ... to confirm the pregnancy for her hubby she actually put a bun...in the oven LOL...he didn't grasp it... photo of it on her blog :-)

Another satisfying afternoon continuing on my diorama. This time, concentrating on making 'bricks' for the exterior. Cutting the 'bricks' for the exterior. These are made from egg cartons. After this, each corner of the brick is cut off ever so tiny so that it gives a more realistic look when glued on the diorama. Colouring the 'bricks' with soft pastels until i get the shades i want. The 'bricks' are then affixed to the diorama box A 'spacer' is used to ensure level placement of the bricks and an even space to 'grout' later to complete the job. Row upon row.... Close up of the 'bricks'. Egg cartons are fabulous for this! Corner shot Taking shape. Making connections - the s.s. Tainui Disaster

I snap thousands of grave and memorial photos.  Of course sometimes they 'ring bells' in my head as the various facts come together during research.   New Zealand is a small world after all and  lives of those who have crossed each others paths for some reason or other does happen. Here are a couple that have that connection and one of them, Charles WILLIAMS provided a few surprises. The s.s. Tainui Disaster [32] The Tainui which was a wooden cargo vessel, was carrying a load of benzine that it was ill equipped to do so.  The inevitable happened, she exploded near Shag Rock on the Canterbury Coast, off Gore Bay in North Canterbury and all but 1 of the 9 crew were drowned on 16th September 1919. The sad news was first conveyed to the Newton Police Station by a youth named Arthur Shannon, who at that time simply knew of the suicide of the murderer. Constable Clark sent word to the central police station, and at once proceeded to the scene of the crime. It was not until some time afterwards that it was known that the perpetrator of the rash act had also committed the fearful crime of murder.
